Beginning Science:

This text is separated into four different subjects of science: Earth Science & Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. This book was written with a 1st-3rd grade reader in mind. If your student is proficient in reading, let them read the book themselves. However, it is realized that not all 1st - 3rd grade readers can read this book. You might want to read parts of the book and let them read parts. There are 108 lessons in this text. Thirty-six should be completed during each year. It is set up to accomplish one per week for the thirty-six week school year. Most lessons take approximately 30 minutes total. The lessons consist of two parts - one part information and one part an activity or experiment. The lessons can be broken down into two 15 minute lessons or one 30 minute lesson. If your student has not taken Kindergarten science the following subjects should be reviewed with your student before using the Beginning Science course: parts of a plant, plant needs, animal traits, five senses, definition of force, and parts of a shadow (penumbra & umbra).

The complete beginning science curriculum includes a student text, a tests and answer key, and a science materials kit. This curriculum also offers a replacement materials kit and loose-leaf activity pages. The replacement materials kit is used to replace any consumable items that were already used by a previous student from the beginning science materials kit. The loose-leaf activity pages are copies of all the activity pages in the beginning science student text. These can be used for an additional student or to replace already used ones from the student text. (Note: Science Goggles and a globe are needed for this curriculum but are not provided in the kit. We offer these items seperately- see the store.)
